We are excited to kick off the Fall season! As we prepare for our first match, we want to make sure everyone—especially families new to 14U—is on the same page regarding league rules and match-day expectations set by the East Central Indiana Youth Soccer League (ECIYSL).
Please take a moment to review these key guidelines before game day:
Field & Spectator Rules
Zero-Tolerance Policy: ECIYSL strictly enforces zero tolerance for negative language or actions toward referees, coaches, or players. The pre-game routine serves as the official warning. If a spectator is asked to leave, play is stopped until they are completely out of sight and sound of the field. Let's keep the environment 100% positive for the kids!
Sideline Seating: Spectators must sit on the sideline directly opposite the team benches and remain in designated areas. Sitting behind goal lines or near team bench areas is prohibited.
Key 14U Match Rules to Know
Game Format: We play 9v9 (8 outfield players + Goalkeeper) with two 35-minute halves and a 10-minute halftime break.
No Slide Tackling: Strictly prohibited across all age groups. Sliding directly at/near an opponent to take the ball is a foul.
No Deliberate Heading: Heading is not permitted in 14U play. An intentional head ball results in an indirect free kick for the opposing team.
Goalkeepers: Punting and drop-kicks ARE allowed in 14U.
Offside Rule: Offside is active across the whole field (14U does not use build-out lines).
Substitutions: Unlimited, but only with the referee's permission during specific stoppages (goal kicks, after goals, halftime, or our own throw-ins).
